Poetry Friday: This Moment

It's Thursday night, and I'm thinking about Poetry Friday.

Just outside, with the dog, and the wind, and the too-lusciously mild-for-October weather.

This moment. Perfect.

This Moment
by Eavan Boland

A neighbourhood.
At dusk.

Things are getting ready
to happen
out of sight.

(Read the whole thing here, at The Writer's Almanac.)

The round up is being hosted this week by the ever delightful Laura Purdie Salas.

Yes, what Andi said -- that last line.

This season gives us such perfect nights, perfect moments.

Love the way this poem collects all these night-time happenings, especially "apples sweeten in the dark." Thanks for sharing it.

What is even MORE apropos to me is that this poem is from a collection called In a Time of Violence.

A moment's grace, in a time of disgracefulness. A moment's pax, in a time of storm.

Amen.

A lovely poem full of rich visuals - butter yellow window, for instance.

Yes, I noticed what Tanita did -- that this poem comes from IN A TIME OF VIOLENCE. Ironic. Apropos.
