Oh my goodness...I need to move closer to you. I clicked on all the links and am in LOVE with all the fudge making in your house! And yes, you should add the chocolate chips. :-)
Why not add chocolate chips (after the cooking process at the same time as the nuts (and marshmallows if you put them in). I had one year where we were very broke and for David's stocking I made chocolate fudge with fruitcake fruit in it (I still had some of THAT around). He liked it and I've made it other times (although certainly not every year). Thanks for the St. Lucy's link. My dd has the bread rising as I write.
