What will you wear, bake, or hide today? (Oooh, I sense a poetry prompt here.)

Love this poem!! Thanks for sharing it again. It all feels so true to Emily, esp. that bit of capriciousness. :)
Ha! This definite gets the Emily Dickinson vibe just right. I love it. Thank you.
LOVE this poem. The white dress dilemma! So good...
Karen, yes, a wonderful prompt! I love it. May I?
What will you wear, bake, or hide today?
Today I wore paint clothes to paint the door jamb on our new front door. Now I have on a soft sweatshirt, sitting on the couch enjoying poetry.
I'm baking nothing, and hiding the green-foiled chocolate truffles so I don't eat them all before our company comes tomorrow.
I think it might be fun to write To-Do List poems about other beloved poets and authors. Or actors, politicians, enemies. Oh, my, maybe another prompt coming.
Thanks for sharing!
Oh... this is fabulous. "Write poem. / Hide poem." ... Thank you for sharing this!
Karen, I love this poem. I hadn't read it before so thanks for sharing it again. "Write poem/Hide poem." Wonderful! The poem also fits in with an emerging eavesdropping theme in Poetry Friday this week!
Love it, Karen. "Hide", "white dress", "eavesdrop" - sounds like someone we know!
Thanks for the poem, but also for the discussion below on the Writers' Almanac page. Lots there I didn't know about Emily and her family. Complicated, to say the least.
Happy to share this one with you all!
Jama, I can relate to the capriciousness. :)
Linda M., yes to the vibe!
Patricia, I have such a simple wardrobe that I can relate to the white dress dilemma, lol.
Denise, I enjoyed reading about what you wore, baked (or didn't), and hid. :) To-do lists about other poets (and all kinds of other people) would be interesting to tackle!
Sarah Grace, my pleasure!
Susan, I'm headed over to make the PF rounds soon, so I'll look for that emerging theme. :D
Linda B., ha!
Mary Lee, I agree — so complicated! I wish we could know more about the Amazing Emily.
Hahaha--What a witty poem--thanks for sharing this, Karen. I hadn't read it before!
Love to think of what ol' Emily would put in her daily planner! A lot is hidden there... ;)
Laura, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Bridget, I'd like to get a peek at that too. :)
I love this poem, too, and on a road trip saw a white dress of hers at her house in Amherst several years ago. Now I'm thinking about her getting up and deciding what to wear and trying to fee what it might be like to be her and the importance of hiding her art. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for sharing this fun poem, Karen! I hadn't seen it before. Perfect bio pf Emily.
Sounds so much like Emily Dickinson, I like the "Eavesdrop" and ending with "Hide everything" thanks for the smiles Karen! 😌
Janice, I would love to visit Amherst someday! I was born in Massachusetts, but we moved when I was three years old, long before I had an interest in Emily. :)
Rose, so glad you enjoyed it!
Michelle, happy to share the smiles!
