Poetry Friday: The Peace of Wild Things


I haven't shared this one for a while, but it's definitely time to share it again. Wishing you peace, friends.

The Peace of Wild Things 
by Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things

Thank you Karen, and thank you Wendell. One of the things I threw in my bag when we got the notification that we'd be locked out of the school building was my hand-copied-on-an-index-card "The Real Work" that sat on my desk and now sits on my kitchen table/desk. Remembering every day to listen for the singing of this "impeded stream" world of ours.
