I received a note from Benjamin Ludwig at WriteGuide.com with some details about their individualized writing courses. Although our family hasn't actually used them, a friend of mine had a great experience with them, so I thought I'd pass the information on.
Their website fully explains how they work and also contains some helpful samples of correspondence between a student and a writing consultant.
Again, I haven't personally experienced a WriteGuide course, but I'm always on the lookout for writing courses that can actually work, and the methods used at WriteGuide look very much like what we do here at home: constant back-and-forth and revise, revise, revise!
