I'm glad it's only occasional

The other day we celebrated a saint day here for one of the girls.

We had picked up some mini-cupcakes for the occasion, and when Ramona found out that not only did she get to eat one now but could also have a couple later for dessert she said, "You mean I get more later?"

Her eyes were shining.

"Yes," I said.  "Life is good, no?"

"Yes!" she replied. "It is. Well," she added, "there is the occasional disappointment ...."

We had a huge disappointment/death of a dream this week ourselves (you can read about it at my blog) so it's really nice to be reminded that disappointments are only occasional. Life is usually simpler when you're 7, but maybe it's because such little things as cupcakes are received with such joy.

Karen, I continue to be amazed by the maturity of your young daughter. She is so insightful in her pondering, and we are privileged to be recipients of that insight. Thanks as always...

Liz, I'm so sorry about Abby's horse! Yes, life is pretty simple and lovely when you're seven and the biggest disappointments have to do with cupcakes and an early bedtime.

And Roxane, thank you!
