How Motherhood Changes You

There was a time in my life when seeing the words, "Make an Armadillo from a Milk Carton" would not have made me click.

Not even out of curiosity.

I don't plan to make that armadillo, mind you, but as a mom, I have to admit that the portion of the brain that processes craft tolerance has expanded and has overlapped with the portion that handles curiosity and clicking.

There's some relationship as well to the vocabulary portion of the brain, and there seems to be an entire cerebral center for the word cute.

I don't know how God mapped all this, but it's quite amazing.

Also things that used to be gross. There was a time in my life that I would pick the caterpillars off my herbs, disgusted. Now we are obsessed with bugs of all kinds. It's like I opened my eyes to a whole new world.

I think I always would have wanted to make an armadillo from a milk carton, which is why motherhood was a fairly smooth transition to me.
