Dinner with Ramona

A couple of nights ago, Atticus was talking about the dearth of programs for gifted students. Anne-with-an-e chimed in.

"I think," she said, between bites of ham, "that when I grow up, I'm going to open a school that focuses more on academics than on sports."

As Atticus and I nodded in approval at this lofty ambition (nodding, rather than speaking, of course, because our mouths were full of cheese-and-potato casserole), Ramona added, "When I grow up, I think I'm going to be a pumpkin."

Hee, hee!!! Reminds me of a friend of dd's, who used to say that when she grew up she was going to be a penguin.
