On a pro-life roll today

The After Abortion blog is compelling, admirable in its attempt to create and sustain genuine discussion sans labelling, namecalling and accusations. If you haven't had a chance to visit it, take a look.

One of yesterday's posts is fascinating. It's about the dynamic at work among (or tension between) post-abortive women and the pro-life movement in general. As Emily observes:

My first reaction to this was that this suggests that compared to post- abortive women, the rest of the pro-life movement is composed of people who are paragons of emotional, mental and relational health. In my five years of involvement with the pro-life movement, I have not found that there is a noticeable difference in the day-to-day operational effectiveness of those who are PA versus those who are not.

And, the thing that comes to my mind is that the "pro-life movement in general" is full of post-abortive women, though most are silent, thus creating a false dichotomy between the two groups. The "two groups" are one huge, overlapping Venn diagram of suffering and compassion, healing and outreach, ongoing pain and God's love and redemption.
