Atticus was driving home from work the other day, and turned on the radio to catch a little Kresta in the Afternoon. Just as he clicked on, he heard, "So that's E-D-M ..." and Atticus thought, "That's funny, it sounds like they're spelling my name."
Al Kresta continued, "... I-S-T-E-N?" and Atticus thought, "Huh. Are they talking about a relative of mine or something?" Upon hearing, "The Rosary: Keeping Company with Jesus and Mary," he realized that, yes, they were indeed talking about his closest relative, his wife, and the book she wrote.
The show was Al Kresta's annual book recommendation special, and the lovely Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle recommended my Rosary book as a pick of the year. Thank you, Donna-Marie! I'm surprised and humbled to be in such terrific company. And thanks to Al Kresta for including the book on his site.
The complete list of book recommendations is here. It includes picks from Dave Forsmark, Mike Aquilina, Teresa Tomeo, Carl Olsen, Rori Hoipkemier, Doug Keck, Steve Ray, Steven Greydanus, Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle, and Al Kresta. Great Christmas ideas there, either for giving or for last-minute hinting.
And, speaking of Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle, she is an amazingly busy woman (or should I say missionary?) It looks like she's on the radio today, in a couple of different places, her new book is out, and she'll soon have a show for Catholic moms on EWTN.

Karen,
I loved reading your story just now. That's so neat that your husband happened to hear me talking about you and your beautiful book on Al Kreta's show! :)
Have a beautiful, beautiful Christmas!
Hugs to you and your family!
Donna-Marie
Hi Karen! I have your book and it's coming up on my reading list.
I heard the radio program too! And I thought - I need to get to that book soon!!
I am also anxious to dig into the recommendations everyone gave and add things to my list. I was very pleased to see someone recommended Four Witnesses. I LOVED that book so much - it's just fantastic.
Merry Christmas!
Karen, I enjoyed hosting Donna-Marie this morning. I'll be doing the hosting occasionally in the coming year too. Would love to get you on our local station as well. I've also wanted to do a book review -- was thinking for Lent this year. Not all that far away. Hope all is well and I love the story about your husband hearing your/his name on Al Kresta. I've a few of those surreal moments too in my life as an author. Very fun! Blessings...
A beautiful Christmas to you, too, Donna! And, Amy, I must read more of your blog ... I'm with you on the margaritas on the rocks, definitely. :) And, Roxane, I'd love to do your show with you anytime -- prayers for it to go well. I know you'll do beautifully!
