Poetry Friday: The Peace of Wild Things

Do you ever "tax your life with forethought of grief"?

Yeah. Me, too.

Wendell Berry knows the feeling and knows where to go when he's feeling it.

Read The Peace of Wild Things, the poem from which I paraphrased the above quotation, here at the Poetry Foundation.

For the entire Poetry Friday round-up, see Becky's Book Reviews. Then, think about finding some peace in wild things this weekend. That's my plan.

Ahhh. Oh, how I hate living in the city, and hope to get out sometime soon to visit those wood drakes and all. This is as nice as a drink when I'm thirsty. Thanks for sharing.

"I come into the presence of still water." That and the next line bring tears to my eyes. Thank you.

I love this poem. I will share it today with a group of breast cancer survivors who will be spending at least a part of the day soaking up the peace of wild things and places.

Karen, Wendell Barry was our poet of choice to take canoeing when my dh and I were in college. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
