Poetry Friday: Emily Dickinson

I just felt like a little bit of Emily today.

Go here, to Poets.org, to read the five perfect lines of "To make a prairie."

The Amazing Jama has the round up this week at Jama's Alphabet Soup.

You're so right, Karen. Wouldn't change a thing of those five lines! Thank goodness for revery, bees, and Emily.

Those are such perfect lines. Emily and revery equals luxury.

I think my FAVORITE Emily book last year was Susan Snively's Poetry for Kids (which Jama reviewed) where there are lovely illustrations of all of the poems. I love the brevity of that prairie poem, and the illustrations just took it over the top.

Tanita, the illustrations in that book are dreamy! I love them!

Brenda and Tabatha, thanks for joining in the revery today. :)

Sigh, thanks for this Friday gift of Emily. Perfection is the way to describe this poem. A small miracle it is. . .

I do think you're right--perfection. Copying into my commonplace right now!

Ahh...I'm sad that bees are becoming few, but good to remember that no matter what, we will always be capable of revery!

Ah... Emily! I saw a bee today checking out my lavender that is just about to present itself.

Thanks for Emily Dickinson's poem Karen, it's perfect. Here's a short poem inspired by her poem "To make a prairie."

Haloed Honey Bee

I saw a honey bee
busy in my backyard,
and around it danced
a halo of reverie,
for only me to see.

I see Mary Lee already said it, but I was thinking as I read this that bees ARE few!
