I'm often quite selfish on Poetry Friday. I post about things and poets that I revel in and want to read.Today, I'm thinking of the kids. We're going to do a bit of rhythmic reading today.
Joyful Noise, by Paul Fleischman, is a fun little book of poetry, designed for recitation. The poems -- all about insects -- are laid out on the page for easy reading, easy assignment of parts, and easy "performance." The resulting lyrical rhythm is a delight to hear.

This was the FIRST book of poetry I bought for myself, will ALWAYS be a favorite.
That sounds like so much fun! I hope your kids loved it.
Poetry Friday is such fun! Very dangerous though, I'm going to through out my back one of these days carting all these treasures home from the library!
You selfish? Never! Have a wonderful, wonderful time today. We love that book, too, and I was so glad when I had two kids old enough to read from it :)
I love this book! I wish I had known about it (or was it even out yet) when I was teaching 8th grade. We'd have had so much fun with it.
I bought it a few years ago at the L.A. SCBWI conference, where Paul was speaking.
It's a treasure!
