"It's time to start listening to the Christmas playlist!"
Wh-wh-what?! I sputtered. I glared. I said, "You guys! You should wait until Christmas to listen to Christmas music!"

I have a confession to make. Atticus corrupted my family's Adventian ways in the music department.
Yesterday we began decorating the house for Advent. Anne-with-an-e mentioned that she had just put a bunch of Christmas music on her mp3. Betsy chimed, "It's December 1st! The day I start listening to Christmas music!"
I sensibly retorted, "But it's only Advent! You should save it. Remember when I never used to let any of you listen to any Christmas music until Christmas day?"
"Yeah," said Betsy, "but then Dad would take us with him to go grocery shopping and he always put Christmas music on in the van. I wanted to go grocery shopping just so I could listen to Christmas music."
We don't keep Advent perfectly, people. But I promise not to panic about it. And Christ is all about forgiveness, so I forgive you, Atticus.

Happy Advent, Karen!
I have to admit, while I do try to wait until after Christmas to listen to Christmas music, doing so means that I have to listen only to whatever music I have on hand, because every radio station around (including the Christian one!) stops playing Christmas music on Dec. 26. So I do sometimes let it slide, a little.
Do whatever you can to extend the season of hope and joy and peace as long as you can, that's my opinion :-) (Plus I'm a real sucker for Christmas music.)
LOL! We start listening to Christmas music Dec 1 also! I love it too much to wait!
The music is one of my favorite things about Christmas- I can never wait to start listening. I think part of the appeal for me is the special memories that are tied to certain songs. This year, we are trying something new and listening to Advent music. I put together a playlist and came up with two hours' worth. Having that music playing the past few days has made our house (and car) feel almost holy, kind of set apart from the rest of the world...and I am finding it helps keep me from rushing forward to Christmas too quickly this year.
I love this! My husband is the same way!
I can never wait either! I try, but it doesn't last very long. I just really like Christmas music! Though some of it we call "winter music" so that doesn't count ;). Have a happy and blessed Advent!
Its such as you learn my mind! You appear to grasp a lot about this, such as you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you just can do with some percent to drive the message house a little bit, but instead of that,
that is magnificent blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
