I'm trying to imagine - wistfully - what it would be like to be someone who needed to be exhorted to stop cleaning and read . The mind BOGGLES.Hey, we're homeschooling now!
I'm with Beck. I can't imagine.
I'd like to have you both over so that we could avoid cleaning together. Beck ... homeschooling! Woo-hoo!
I never ever, ever in my life have been exhorted to stop cleaning and read a book. I'm sure there are lots of times that my family would have wished I stopped reading a book and started cleaning. After months of reading books on lactation I returned home from the exam to the realization that I really and truly must start cleaning, even though I'd rather just read a non-lactation related book... SIGH. But that's for tomorrow, after all tomorrow is another day.
Karen,Love your thoughts here. So true, and I think most of us writers probably fall into the camp of needing to be peeled away from our books to get to the domestic stuff that bores us, but needs to be done nonetheless.Glad to know I'm not the only one!Roxane
I used to get in trouble all the time when I was a kid because I was always reading instead of doing what I was supposed to do. So yeah, I think I'm a member of this club. Can I come avoid cleaning too?Janet
I'm behind on reading blog posts, but just wanted to say "Amen" to that...your comment, that is, Karen. I know there are people who need Susan's advice, but they probably aren't here, reading blogs. :) My gracious family doesn't tell me to stop reading and clean, but they might like to, and my husband does sometimes politely ask what we are having for dinner. :)
I'm not one of those people who gets told to stop cleaning and go read. Fortunately my family is tolerant of my reading habit, and the resulting messes.
