St. Nicholas day is fast approaching!

We love to celebrate this feast day. On St. Nicholas Eve, the children leave their shoes outside their bedroom doors. In the morning they find chocolate coins, and a few small gifts (fun socks, a craft, a Christmas ornament ... St. Nick varies his routine.)

On the feast day, we read books and do activities centered on the saint and on his connection to Christ and Christmas. It's become a tradition to watch Nicholas, the Boy Who Became Santa.

And, my absolute favorite St. Nicholas resource is the St. Nicholas Center, loaded with fun ideas, activities and recipes. And, this year, they even have instructions for a St. Nicholas spoon saint, ala Alice Gunther, from Cottage Blessings!

Ooh, we love St. Nicholas too! Thanks for the spoon saints mention!

BTW, my girls have spent a good part of the morning doing an activity they say was inspired by Anne with an E--cup stacking with a timer! Tons of fun!
