Science this week

A few of the things we've been doing:

We hit the lake and the girls did some writing in their nature journals:

Ramona, putting her notebook away:

We visited our favorite ducks:

And walked on our favorite tree-lined trail:

Back home, we watched as our five caterpillars (dubbed Pokey, Tumnus, AmyJo-MegBeth, Hermione and Luna) grew:

and grew:

Ramona, when asked what in the world she was doing on the floor under a blanket, blithely replied, "I'm an amoeba, Mommy."

Well, yeah, of course. What kind of mommy (or science teacher) am I, to have missed that?

That looks like the most idyllic, best science class EVER.
And that's a very cute amoeba, too.
