Poetry Friday

Thinking about Ramona and reading has me thinking about the best way to teach reading:

Read.

And so, in honor of reading, today's poem is "Read to Me" by Jane Yolen.

Read To Me

by Jane Yolen

Read to me riddles and read to me rhymes,
Read to me stories of magical times.
Read to me tales about castles and kings.
Read to me stories of fabulous things.
Read to me pirates and read to me knights,
Read to me dragons and dragon-book fights.
Read to me spaceships and cowboys and then,
When you are finished -- please read them again.

Today's Poetry Friday Round-up can be found here, at Chicken Spaghetti. Thanks, Susan, for hosting, and, as always, thanks, Kelly at Big A little a for Poetry Friday.

We have lots of plans coming up, so I'll be playing instead of blogging. I'll see you on Monday, and have a great weekend.

Well, that's what I do. I just read The Scarlet Pimpernel. And then again immediately afterward. *Sigh* Same thing with HPDH.
