Ramona Stands Guard

Ramona was stationed at the top of the stairs, sporting a fierce look.

"What's up?" I asked.

"I'm guarding," she said.

"Ooooh," I nodded. "Against what?"

"You never know!" she said, most seriously.

"That's true," I agreed, "but I know this for sure: nothing bad can come up those stairs while you're guarding them. You would scare it away in an instant."

She nodded, satisfied.

I peeked down the stairs. "What do you think it is?" I asked. "Is it some kind of monster?"

She leaned in, her face close to mine. "No," she pronounced. "It's expired cheese."

Fantastic story! Ramona is so terrific. :) Aren't you sometimes thankful for blogs just so you can easily write these things down? I'm amazed at how quickly I forget a kid-episode that had us in stiches just a day or two before.
