Becky and the Bookworm both assured me that my comments would make it through the transition from plain, old Blogger to enhanced Super Blogger. So, as I began to play around with it, thinking that I could transfer only my little experimental blog over (I have a blog I don't post publicly on ... I just use it to learn html and to tinker ... then, I don't have to worry about ruining my main template) Blogger suddenly took over and told me it was transferring everything.
Before I'd backed up my template.
I can hear some of you gasping. I gasped, too.
But, it appears that all is well. The transfer is complete, and if this works as I think it will, then I'll have ... drum roll, please ... real categories. Categories were the only reason that I sometimes considering straying from my beloved blogspot. And now, finally, they're here.
I'm a happy woman. It really doesn't take much, does it?

Thank goodness no data was lost. This blog is a treasure!
Categories would have kept me at blogger too! So glad you made the transfer without a problem!
That's funny. Earlier tonight I was thinking about e-mailing you & asking if you planned on making the switch. I've toyed with the idea, myself--double-edged sword though it is. Bigger, better options: very tempting. Losing my old blog and/or scaling a steep new learning curve when there's not a lot of free time: not so very tempting.
Keep us "posted," okay?
Thanks, all.
Margaret -- there's really no learning curve after the switch. It's pretty straightforward. Anyone who can handle Martha Stewart, Kurt Vonnegut and Jill Krementz will not be intimidated by BetaBlogger. ;-)
If you haven't tweaked your current template extensively, then the new layouts will make future tweaking easier. The thing is, if you switch over to one of their new easy-to-tweak layouts, you lose all of your old customizing. I've customized a lot, so am not sure I want to start over. But, the beta version is very easy to use. What I love the most is categories. Just add the labels you want at the bottom of the post and you're done categorizing.
My switchover was fast and complete, and I didn't lose anything. For now, I'm sticking with my old template and am just enjoying the new feature of categories.
Hope this helps!
It's kind of nice, isn't it? For a while, cross-blog commenting didn't work, but they fixed that about a month ago.
