When I first found The St. Nicholas Center website a few years ago, I printed out this picture for the kids. The main response it elicited was, "That's not fair! They get to see St. Nicholas!" It was also proposed that we should find wooden shoes (we haven't yet.)
This year, youngest daughter, Ramona, said, "St. Nicholas was a priest a long time ago?"
"Yes, he was."
Long, thoughtful pause. "But," she said, "now, in real life, he wears black boots."
