Ramona and Jim Arnosky

What better way to spend the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi than with the prince of animal picture books? We headed to Barnes and Noble in Omaha today to meet Jim Arnosky, who was on the last stop of a tour to promote his new book, Man Gave Names to All the Animals.

He was absolutely delightful and so very gracious as he signed not only the books we  bought but also the favorites Ramona had carted along in her bookbag.  What a gentleman. He even agreed to let this gushing mom take a picture.

On the way home, we twanged along with Bob Dylan (the new book comes with a cd of Dylan singing the song) as we were treated to a breathtaking flock of blackbirds at dusk.

I'm going to heave a contented sigh now and head to bed.  Hope your feast day was as lovely as ours.

We've read a bunch of his books! How nice that you got to meet him---he looks just as he ought.

So! Jealous!
And I agree with Sara. He looks just as I had pictured him.

What a great picture! What a great day!

Ramona, do a narration about it if you feel inspired. And then have your mommy share it with us!

(We're geeky homeschoolers. We love that sort of thing.)

Another PS. for Ramona: My girls and I went to see Kate DiCamillo, but the line was too long to get an autograph and/or photo. You are very lucky!

Wow, how wonderful! We love Jim Arnosky's books. When "my Ramona" was a preschooler, I ever wrote a little song called "Rabbits and Raindrops" inspired by his book of the same title. :)

What a beautiful day you all had!

Sorry, that "ever" should be "even." Typing badly this week because of back problems!

Exciting! He looks a little like Crinkleroot. At one point one of his books was over $100 on Amazon. Yours will be worth more with his autograph!
