Breakfast with Ramona

Ramona, confiding: "Mommy, last night Daddy let me have a second brownie."

Me: "Really! Well, aren't you a lucky girl? How lucky is that?"

Ramona, eyes shining with the knowledge: "LOTS of lucky!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And, Ramona's latest version of a joke:
"Mommy, Pete and Repeat went out on a boat. Pete fell in. Who was left?"
"Repeat?"
"Yeah! You're right!"
(An extended conversation followed between Ramona and Betsy. Betsy, you see, had a deeply felt need to make Ramona understand that when the person to whom one is telling this joke says, "Repeat," that said joketeller must then repeat the joke, otherwise it has no meaning and isn't funny. To which Ramona answered, "Okay," and promptly retold the joke, ending it -- to Betsy's exasperation -- once again with, and of course you knew this was coming, "Yeah!")
Oh yes, the three / four year old jokes! Do you have "knock, knock" jokes on your side of the Atlantic? If not, then this will make no sense (actually it makes no sense anyway, but it will make even less). My younger daughter's favourite joke at Ramona's age was:
Knock, knock!
Who's there?
Hannah.
Hannah who?
Hannah.
Uh ... yes???? At least seeing her so hugely entertained by it was funny!
Oh, yes, we have the most awful and endearing knock-knock jokes you can imagine, Bookworm! :-) Although, Ramona's current favorite is unspeakably cute to her mother:
Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Olive.
Olive who?
Olive you!
:-)
