Playing Penderwicks

Thanks (once again) to a Bonny Glen recommendation, we just started reading The Penderwicks, by Jeanne Birdsall. Melissa's description of the book sounded like our cup of tea so I picked it up from the library. We started it two days ago, and so far we have:

~ laughed out loud (especially over the finding of the map and the method of baking cookies)

~ giggled about how cute Batty is, and how much she reminds us of Ramona

~ made other comparisons to our own world of sisterly relations

~ observed that we really love books about sisters, their quirks, quibbles and affections, with Little Women coming immediately to mind

And I have overheard this roughly five times in the last 24 hours:

"Let's play Penderwicks!"

My little sister loves this book!

"The Penderwicks on Gardam" Street is the sequel...and also good!
