Poetry Friday: Life starts all over

It's been a busy two weeks, but I didn't want to miss Poetry Friday again, as I did last week. I confess I'm throwing this post together in order to wave my hand in the air and say, "I'm here, I'm here! And I'll come visit you too!"

I've been known to share a particular quote from The Great Gatsby at about this time every year. It's a must, because it perfectly describes my own rebirth when I move from Summer-Wilt to Autumn-Crisp.

So in order to call this a poem, I arranged the quote as such. If you aren't familiar with it, may I introduce you to this perfect little observation:

Thank You, F. Scott, for Capturing Autumn

"What'll we do
with ourselves
this afternoon?" cried Daisy,
"and the day after that,
and the next thirty years?"

"Don't
be
morbid,"
Jordan said.
"Life starts all over again
when it gets
crisp
in
the
fall."

So glad you joined us this week. Cool idea to turn Fitzgerald's quote into a poem. :) Now I want to reread The Great Gatsby. :)

Lovely to see you, Karen. … Autumn is *always* my reset time! It is THE perfect season! 😀… that said, I am moving slow too amidst the extra busy. Still reading lots, and posting pretty much weekly. …

Jama, it's a cheat, but it gets the annual quote out there, and it gives me a chance to join the Friday Fun. :D I want to reread Gatsby too!

Karen, what a great idea to add a quote to your poem. I love the quote you shared from Gatsby and I enjoyed the conversation. Would you like to add your poem to my Autumn's Ephemeral Gold Gallery of Artistic Expressions Gallery at my padlet? https://padlet.com/cvarsalona/autumn-s-ephemeral-gold-gallery-of-artistic-expressions-s023ndy0jtfs5w53jbv7

F.Scott Fitzgerald wrote poetry in prose. A while back, I turned some of the text of The Great Gatsby into poems, too. The temptation is real! xo

Love the lead in seasonal reference- Summer-Wilt to Autumn-Crisp, Karen. Sums it up perfectly. A new lease of life comes with the freshness wound around Autumn. Your poem is both a nod to the F Scott Fitzgerald and autumn's unique offerings.

Autumn is a blessing! I've felt it more than ever this year and am constantly getting side-tracked by all the beauty around me. I love how you transformed a quote from Gatsby to capture that transition. I was just saying to someone that I should reread it. Maybe your post is another nudge from the Universe?

Karen Edmisten said...

* Carol, thanks again for the invite!

* Molly, the nudges must be followed. :) It's always worth a reread. I need to do that too!

Karen, The quote you shared brought back memories of reading the book, which I haven't done in years. I love the change of seasons.
