I feel like you plucked this one right from my heart, only you helped make some sense of it for me.

I get sooooo tired of dealing with the same thing over and over and over again, and I just get sick to death of myself! But I can see, when I look back, that some progress has been made. It just seems so minuscule to me, and I want to be done with this particular issue forever NOW.
It seems like so many prayer times for me lately are filled with tears, and I grow impatient with myself.

I am glad that Jesus is patient and merciful, and He loves me.
I am also learning just how prideful my impatience really is...

Thanks for "ARRR." I'll remember that. It sounds like a very helpful tool.

Bless you. Love your blog.
JenniferMy Chocolate Hearthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08930852646863448655noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17019672.post-60102746303108909532009-09-02T17:03:31.920-05:002009-09-02T17:03:31.920-05:00Karen, thank you for this reminder. This is something I too struggle with (and we all do, as you so kindly pointed out), but I especially needed this reminder right now... :)Sarah Reinhardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05682511477646768745noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17019672.post-37145742920194030512009-09-01T09:12:09.386-05:002009-09-01T09:12:09.386-05:00Cara, thanks so much for taking the time to leave ...Cara, thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment, and I love what that wise old priest said. :)

Sandy, I also love the idea of applying this in compassion and mercy to others.

And Paula, thanks to you, too, for taking the time to comment. Sometimes I worry that I sound as if I'm pontificating, and it's so nice to hear the affirmation that sharing things that *I've* found helpful is actually helpful! :)Karen Edmisten https://www.blogger.com/profile/04446214835142625161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17019672.post-33359862141393408842009-08-31T21:16:46.980-05:002009-08-31T21:16:46.980-05:00This reminds me of one time when I went to confess...This reminds me of one time when I went to confession to a wise old priest. I told him that I was tired of comitting the same old sins time after time. He said, "Would you prefer to commit some new ones?" It made me chuckle and realize that I am human and a very imperfect sinner but that God loves me anyway. I'm so thankful that His mercy is greater than my faults! Thanks for the great blog, Karen. I don't often comment but I always love to read what you write. Keep up the great work. It is frustrating that someone would hurt us with the same behavior choices over and over again, but if we look closely, we may see that while the core of the sin is still there, the approach to it has changed. Perhaps they do not do it as often, perhaps they are more repentant, perhaps the behavior still occurs, but with less intensity. It is so easy to respond to these things with the same emotion as the first time they happened, without recognizing the growth that has taken place. Maybe this is the reason that Jesus tells us to forgive "seventy times seven". Because He knew we would all need a lifetime to grow into His image.Sandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10004651720352605486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17019672.post-5245315876597919352009-08-31T11:02:53.615-05:002009-08-31T11:02:53.615-05:00You have no idea how badly I neede to read this to...You have no idea how badly I neede to read this today.
