It's such a relief to trust my instinct and not twist myself into a pretzel trying to confirm to any one method. I have kind of looked into them but like so much of homeschool info, I got overwhelmed by it all and walk away from it. We have always pieced our curriculum together and called it good enough. So I guess you would label me Schizophrenic too. It was a little...I always just called it eclectic. It was a little bit classical, a little bit Charlotte Mason, a little bit text book, a little bit (or perhaps more than a little bit) self-directed, and a lot of read alouds. Our homeschool didn't look exactly like yours, nor did it look exactly like what my daughter's will probably look like. It was just so much better than sticking religiously to any of the models promoted by the textbook companies (even the ones run by homeschoolers are not only religious in the sense of making religion a core part of the curriculum, but they are religious in the sense that they convey the message that their way is the only way, or at least the best way). Doing Abeka "by the book" made as much sense to me as nursing my babies according to Raising Kids God's Way (that is to say not at all!).<br />Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05127202199834183627noreply@blogger.com
