How...I marvel at those who cry "pretty". How lucky for them! My face just seems to blow up and things start to run and YUCK! Nope, not a "pretty" cryer myself.
Typically, I'm not a big wartime reader, but this one does sound intriguing. Currently I'm reading 'The Pieces We Keep' which is quite intriguing and I'm only on Chapter 23 (out of 68). 2 Storylines going on in 2 time periods. Each chapter switches the narration and characters. Keeps my mind working to keep the stories separate. :-) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17019672.post-57735049171052367882014-03-17T07:47:07.496-05:002014-03-17T07:47:07.496-05:00I am a crier! So perhaps I'll put it into the independent read choices or maybe we can read it simultaneously and then have a little book club discussion about it.

Thank you Karen and Anne-with-an-e!Faithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10169821331076296753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17019672.post-11651030781172606412014-03-17T06:21:54.558-05:002014-03-17T06:21:54.558-05:00Faith, I tend to think it's better read by one...Faith, I tend to think it's better read by oneself, but maybe you could read it at the same time (or just a step ahead of her) and discuss as you go?

Anne-with-an-e responded to your question by saying, "Unless you can read aloud while you ugly-cry (during the last 50 pages), it's probably best read alone." :)

I didn't ugly-cry, but it's a very moving book. I was wondering if it would be a good read aloud for next year for Becky, my 8th grader. We are going to be studying modern history. Would it be a good read aloud? Or is it better read by oneself?

(Sean had to read it last year for school in 8th grade and he absolutely loved it.)Faithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10169821331076296753noreply@blogger.com
