For every parent, and for every parting ....

To a Daughter Leaving Home
by Linda Pastan

When I taught you
at eight to ride
a bicycle, loping along
beside you
as you wobbled away
on two round wheels,

sprinted to catch up,
while you grew
smaller, more breakable
with distance,

(Read the whole thing here, at The Writer's Almanac.)

Ugh, it's coming for me all too soon. My daughter's finishing up her sophomore year. :-(

Did you notice that BILLY COLLINS will be taking over duties at The Writer's Almanac at the beginning of June?!?

YAY!! I can't wait to see what kind of a spin he puts on everything!

Hope your weekend is lovely, too, Jama.
Ruth, it's coming too soon here, too, and Mary Lee, yes! Can't wait for three months worth of Billy Collins' picks.
