Happy Feast of St. Lucy!

This was our Lucia Bread just a little while ago:

But we put a respectable dent in it. It doesn't look as pretty now, but it's serving the purpose for which it was created.

Happy St. Lucia day!

It looks so pretty. We didn't even get to the sticking in candles part. Maybe when the kids aren't circled around eying the bread like ravenous wolves. I was afraid Anthony might gouge a hole in it if I turned my back.

Since we always end up eating it in the evening, we light the candles and our Lucia (always Ramona, since the other girls have outgrown it -- the dressing up, that is, not the bread) leads a short procession through the house with the bread. Ramona looks forward to that part.

There's plenty of time in your future for candles! I wouldn't do them either with so many little hands around! :)

I do think the advent wreath is probably all the candles we should be doing right now. And even that feels risky. But yours does look so pretty all lit up. I look forward to being there some day. And maybe one of these days Bella and Sophie can dress up too. And goodness knows the day will come soon enough when my little Lucy will be the one dressing up for her own name day....
