What's On Your Summer Reading List?

photo from stock.xchng

I'm compiling a list for a friend, and I'd love to hear what you and/or your kids want to read this summer.

Picture books? YA? Books for grown-ups? Spiritual reads?

Let's dish page.

(My list will follow soon ....)

I'm reading Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honour Trilogy. Waugh is one of my very favorite novelists (Brideshead Revisited practically made me Catholic) and I've been wanting to read this trilogy for ages.

I'm reading Mrs. Piggle Wiggle with Benjamin and reading Peter Pan to Lucy as she falls asleep.

Other than the "how to write a high school transcript without losing your mind" (eek!)kind of books, I have Memorize the Faith by Kevin Vost, and How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization by Thomas E. Woods, Jr. ready to go, as well as My Brother the Pope by, well, the Pope's brother, of course, on order.

For fiction I have The Diary of a Country Priest by Georges Bernanos, and Mama's Bank Account by Kathryn Forbes. I haven't really chosen anything for the kids yet, we're a little behind on our read alouds for this school year, so we may be catching up a bit over the summer (which for us doesn't start until the end of July anyway).

I now have several Evelyn Waugh books on my wishlist, thanks to Haley. Looking forward to seeing more lists!

He Leadeth Me and Shirt of Flame are my current spiritual reads. For novels I've got a few Louis de Wohl books lined up. The one on Augustine and the one on Aquinas, whose names I can't currently remember.

The girls and I are reading Betsy Tacy and Little House on the Prairie. Bella and I are reading some of the Pauline saints books: Blessed Pier Giorgio and St Damien of Molokai.

Ben's current favorite picture books are Madeline and Make Way for Ducklings.
