I feel Lost

Cuz I don't watch Lost.

Should I rent it?

Because then I could start reading my favorite blogs again.

It shouldn't last too long...

Let's see -- we have empathy, sympathy and rental encouragement here. Thank you, ladies. :)

Atticus hasn't been interested in it, and we will normally commit to only one or two relationships with TV shows at a time, and we're already maxed out. But maybe Lost is worth getting to know?

I never saw the show, we had friends over to watch the final Lost due to they didn't have tv and to watching it the next day isn't the same for them (they say there is site that you can view tv shows the next day it airs)so I thought I would be very lost since I didn't follow it but I was surprise how unlost I was. So I would rent it. I really like the ending. Makes you think .. :)

I'm a viewer with high standards--after all, there are a million other things I could be doing besides sitting on my behind watching TV. That said, Lost is totally worth it. It's one of those shows that raises interesting, important questions without getting preachy, stupid or weird. It's like good literature: you have to suss out the important details.
When your queue is empty, add Lost to it!

I remember Mom and Dad watched at least most of the first season, but stopped watching after that. I think they said it was confusing, and they didn't like it for other reasons. Anyway, you guys seem more open about TV shows than they are. :)

Danae said...

Of course, you know my opinion...but yes, it is definitely worth it!

Karen Edmisten said...

Danae, do you have a circle with whom you discuss it?

Hermia, I'll ask them about it. I'm open with caveats. :)

Thanks, Cecelia and Griselda!

I'm about to start re-watching the whole series with Jane (her first time). Join us! (Virtually.) We'll be your discussion group!

:)

And I promise to post about something other than LOST soon. But first I have to show the picture I took yesterday while I was deeply absorbed in LOST conversation online. Eek.

I think I would score the first disc from Blockbuster or Netflix or whatever, chill a nice bottle of Guiness or three, and see if there's any chance he's willing to watch the first episode with you. I'm finding it hard to believe that's an offer he can refuse.

My guess is that someone as knowledgeable about, and interested in, story as your hubband will find it a 43 minutes very well-spent.

Let us know which season was your favorite. :)

Karen, I'm sorry for being exclusive. I did try to include a little personal anecdote in my blog entry about Lost to give non-fans a little something. ;)

I think you'd like it. I do think it's worth getting to know.

It's just a tv show, you know; but a good one. Not just because of all the literary references that pop up regularly or because it made me think and has given me much, much fodder for many great conversations with my husband and sister and friends and, well, complete strangers on the internet; but because it also has heart. Fundamentally I think Lost gets it right where it matters most. In matters of what love is, of free will and redemption and self-sacrifice, it gets it pretty darn right. It's not some great Catholic work of art, of course. It's still network tv; but its exploration of universal themes is worth chewing on for a while. You could do much, much worse than committing to it. (And then you could talk about it with us. No peer pressure here.)

It sounds like schoolgirl gushing I know to say that it's the best tv show ever. But really now that it's over and I can see it as a whole, I'm hard-pressed to name a tv show that I've thought was better.

And now I'm going to step off my soap box and go write another Lost post.

Oh and what Lissa said about re-watching it and being a virtual discussion group. I second that. We're going to start in on our DVD collection real soon.

Add me to the list of lost "Lost" viewers. I never watched it but have thought about renting it. I will keep an eye out here if you decide to start a discussion group. I actually think my library has this series. Hmmmm

More empathy.

Melanie, it's okay -- I didn't really feel excluded. (Self-excluded, maybe, but that's ok.) :) I don't think it sounds like schoolgirl gushing. Thoughtful shows are worth discussing, definitely.

Scott, I think the Guinness would seal the deal. My friend Danae suggested Lost quite awhile back -- I just never got Atticus to agree to it. I think his passing impression was that I was asking him to watch Survivor. :)

Lissa, you'd better watch out with that invitation to be my discussion group. I tend to get obsessive ....
