I Can Bargain with the Best of 'Em

I asked my older girls to please play something with Ramona for just a little while. Ramona requested Pollies.

Betsy said, "I don't want to have to play Pollies!"

I sweetly asked if she could just play Pollies for about 20 minutes, while I did something else.

"Fifteen," she countered.

"Okay, fifteen," I agreed. I turned to Ramona, who had been watching this exchange.

"Ramona," I said, "how about fifteen minutes of Pollies with the girls?"

"Okay!" she said happily. "Mommy, you're a good haggler."

Must be the dynamic of a three-girl family; I've got an almost-12 year old here who still loves to play with Polly Pocket dolls (she builds houses, cars, etc. out of cardboard for them) and her two older sisters don't want to join in, even though they are 13 and 14, respectively.

Sadly, I'm not as good a haggler, and have to resort to arranging play-dates with her younger "girl cousins." :)

Well, the haggling only takes us so far. :)
