Poetry Friday: To the Light of September

This poem by W.S. Merwin is just about perfect in its description of September's feel.

To the Light of September

by W. S. Merwin

When you are already here
you appear to be only
a name that tells of you
whether you are present or not

(Read the rest of the poem here, at The Poetry Foundation.)

The roundup this week is at Becky's Book Reviews.

Love, love this poem! Had never seen it before. You're right. It's a perfect description of September. I doubt anyone else has ever said it more exquisitely. Thanks, Karen. :)

This was a new poem for me too. It feels a bit more like September now, having read this. Thank you.

Love this poem, Karen! Thanks for sharing it. I've been turning over in my mind the idea of Sept. as the middle of a tug-of-war between summer and fall, and this poem gave me that same feeling, much more eloquently.
