(backstory: Betsy is currently wearing spacers, in preparation for her soon-to-be-installed braces.)
Ramona: "Mommy, can I have some gum? "
Me: "Yes, you may."
Ramona: "Unle-e-e-e-ss ... you think that wouldn't be fair to Betsy. Because she doesn't get to have any?"
Me: "Oh, honey, that is so sweet that you would think of that! But, you may go ahead and have some gum. Betsy will understand. You are so sweet."
Ramona (sweetly, of course) : "I try to be."
As she skipped over to the cupboard, she added, "I try to be fair, too."

Well, she IS sweet! It sounds like something my daughter would say...after a bout of annoying her little brothers incessantly.
