Ramona, on conversion

While reading The Winged Watchman again tonight, we read a particularly affecting scene in which a priest is explaining to the protagonist that God doesn't "just kill all the Nazis" because God allows us freedom. And, God allows people the chance to be sorry for their sins, so that their souls can be saved.

(I had substituted a phrase like "get rid of" for "kill" because Ramona was in the room, but she joined our discussion anyway.)

"Yes," she said, as she spooned soft-serve vanilla ice cream into her mouth, "God takes all the madness and turns it into sweetness."

Yes, he does, my love.

This is gorgeous - the wisdom of children. Esp when eating ice cream. :-)
