That funny "Lent is over" thing

Last night, as I was cleaning up the last few dishes around 10 p.m., I thought about what a pleasant day we'd had, with family here (though my dear mother-in-law's absence was sharply and sadly felt by all), good food and Easter Vigil joy still coursing through the hours. The ham was delicious, the Sam Adams cold, the chocolate superb.

And I thought, Tomorrow it's back to giving up ... wait a minute ... Lent is over! We'll have meat for dinner tomorrow, too! And the Sam Adams will still be cold and waiting ... and the chocolate ....

Christ the Lord is risen!

Alleluia! Alleluia!

Does Atticus know you're raiding his Sam Adams stash?

I can read fiction again and eat cookies! Of and of course, I don't have to think up one more non-meat menu (at least until Friday). Now we dive into the lamb in the freezer and I come up with lamb menus (just as challenging in its own way, but a whole lot cheaper!).

Happy Easter to all of you, too!

And, Liz, this Friday you can have meat! Friday in the Octave of Easter is equivalent to Sunday! Alleluia! :-)
